Black dust keeps falling off

These were purchased a couple of years ago but the problem continues. I really love the look of these rods in my house. They are beautiful. However the black powder coating keeps coming off on my cream linen drapes! I keep wiping the rods off but the black rings sliding back and forth make more black dust. They would be fine if you never open or close your drapes.

I ordered these rods based on the forged iron construction and the scroll ends, but, when I received them there were decorative forged brackets that really finished the look I was wanting! I never saw any pics that showed these brackets. The only small complaint that I have is the screws that come with the brackets are too soft and strip easily.

Nice, but tall brackets

The rods look good, but note that the brackets are about 6-8" tall. If you are using a middle bracket, then you have to mount the curtain rod ~6-8" above the window frame. Depending on your ceiling height and curtain length, you might have to mount the rod between the window and the ceiling (which, in my opinion, is not the best look).
Also, we ordered three rods, and one came with an extra set of brackets instead of the finials. Pottery Barn took care of getting me the right pieces, but it delayed me getting the last rod hung since I was waiting to find out whether I had to send the entire set back.The delay was most likely because I contacted them the week of Thanksgiving, and they had to contact the manufacturer. In the end, they simply shipped a set of finials to me, so it was easy on my part.

The Forged Iron Drape Rod is a handsome, substantial drapery rod that adds impact to your window treatment. It is a statement piece that is perfect for a large high ceilinged room where it will hold long, dramatic drapes. A great choice for cathedral ceilinged great rooms.

Great look for our big spanish home. the craftsmanship was perfect, only concern were the drywall anchors. They are too big and really mark and mess up the wall, both where the screw is put in and the surrounding area. I install a lot of fasteners and these types are by far the worst. I actually went down to local hardware and bought a better anchor. When drilling into plaster or drywall it is better to make the hole smaller and let the anchordo the work. The anchors included in this set are too wide and cause too much damage.

I love the look, rustic but not too. The brackets are long and I was unable to use the middle one, had to purchase something else for that. The screws are awful!! Should include a better quality screw.

If you need to mount this rod on drywall, be forewarned: The included drywall anchors are huge and extend beyond the flange of the mounting brackets. the drywall anchors are clearly visible behind the flange after mounting. PB needs to make the flange bigger in order to cover the anchors, or include much smaller drywall anchors.

Very stylish. Bought it to match one we'd bought years ago in Britain and were not disappointed. A great product at a reasonable price, just wish it'd come in a XXL size to cover our other window over 123" L!

Disappointing

I've been looking for new drapery rods for a while, and spent much time searching stores and catalogs. I liked the iron rods displayed in my local PB store, and the choice of finials, so finally ordered them plus the iron rings. The rods and finials were very nice, but the support brackets (3) were a deal breaker. I never would have ordered these rods if the brackets had been shown in the catalog. They were huge and extremely ornate, not blending at all with the finials, and the center one would have to be installed through the window glass. I sent them back.

The rod is great. The brackets are long - I'm not sure this was clear in the product description - they were almost too long for me to use. They did work out & they look great.

I love the finish on this forged iron pole and it looks very chic in my bedroom with simple linen drapes. The brackets add interest without taking away from the simplicity of the rod and it's exactly the look I had intended for the room.

As expected, these rods are nicely made and attractive in design. The brackets are, however, substantially larger than we would have expected based upon the dia. of the rods (the brackets are not pictured in any of the resources). Thus, we were not able to mount them as we had originally intended. We were able to address this problem with an alternative outside mounting and are generally pleased with the resulting look.

Helpful hints for hardware

Loved the rods & finials! Very happy with quality and price, but I wish the brackets had been pictured though. I am able to use them as I'm mounting the brackets a foot above window. If I had limited space above or next to window they would not have worked.
The brackets are beautiful but I think most people expect much smaller brackets when ordering iron rods as they want the curtains & finials to be the focal point and not the brackets.
I think it would help to picture the brackets & their dimensions on your sight.
Just a helpful suggestion.
