Map Wall Decal

It looks really great on the website, but in real life, it is disapointing. As other commenters have said, this is actual wallpaper and NOT a decal. They could explain that a little better in the description.
Anyway, it dosnt go on that easy, you have to cut it into sections, it comes rolled up in one long piece. and you have to adhere it to the wall like you would regualr wallpaper.....By submerging it in water and then lining it all up exactly on your wall so all the lines and everything on the map match up. If your not perfect, it could look very bad. So just be warned.

Yes, it is absolutely beautiful! Yes, my friends have flipped over it! Yes, the office is now the best room in the house! Yes, it goes up like wallpaper! And YES - IT COMES OFF LIKE A DECAL.
I used two maps and wrapped them around three walls, with open bookshelves in the middle with no wall map behind them (I painted the wall blue to match). I had to remove a 5 inch strip from one side. I simply took my wall paper knife, sliced it down the paper and VOILA! It peeled right off! Frankly I was shocked!
This is a solid buy.

We installed this above a chair rail on a wall in our son's bedroom. It's ADORABLE! It was easy to handle and great quality. We highly recommend!!

This looks like a nice quality 'map' in the photos and I was not disappointed. The detailing is impressive with just enough color to give it some character. It looks sophisticated, not 'cartoon-ish.' It's also made of a nice, thick waxed-feeling paper. I bought it to line a built-in bookcase that I have large coral pieces displayed in. Haven't done it yet.

I was expecting a "decal" and this is definitely wallpaper. It is easy to install if you follow the directions and be sure to seal the wall first so you can take it off if you want. But it will still be removing wallpaper. The product itself is very nice and we installed it on a slanting ceiling over our son's bed where we couldn't put other art. It looks beautiful!!!!

We just love the new map decal. We hired a professional to put it up (since it was small it only cost us about 50 dollars to have her put it up) and it looks amazing. It adds a lot of character to the room.

The map is awesome but... the stated measurements are not true. The map I received measured a grand total of 8' 2 7/16". Though I took great care to measure 8 ft. (3 times) and add extra for good measure. I still ended up going around a corner by 2 1/8 inches.
Don't be afraid to reverse the instructions and start at panel 6 if it makes sense for your wall. This is definitely wall paper, not a decal or a sticker. You will need to buy a smoothing brush and a tray to wet the paper. You will need a level to make your starting vertical line. My level is 4' in length. I found it easier to trim the panels to size before applying it to the wall. Then only minor cutting was necessary on the wall itself at ceiling level.
I would definitely buy it again. It's stunning. Other reviews noted that 2 people are needed to hang the paper. I was able to do this by myself. I have never hung wallpaper before and if the map had been 8 ft in length, my results would have been very close to perfect.

I am a travel agent and sailor. I put this on a wall in my office, actually around the corner as it shows in the photo with the bar. It is my first attempt at wallpaper, which it is and thank goodness I am detailed and patient. It took 2 people and alot of lining up but it looks perfect and with the accessories hanging on top of it to make it more of a backdrop adds a dramatic look to my nautical/travel themed office! Thank you PB !!

We purchased this wall art for our beach house in Maine. It is certainly the best thing ever!! It is a jaw dropper! Took a lot of patience to put up but not too difficult. Hightly recommended.

This is a great product but I was surprised to see that you need to add water to the paper to activate the paste of the back. I would call it wallpaper, not a decal or sticker. It takes two people to put it up but its easy. I bought two and cut the second one up, turning the sections in different directions so that I could "patchwork" an entire wall. I finished it off with other antique maps over top for a collected look. THUMBS UP!

This gorgeous, wonderfully detailed wall map transformed our large, white bathroom into an elegant seaside spa. Blue and white striped towels (also available at PB) completed the newly nautical decor. Highly recommended.

I have had plenty of experience applying wallpaper, so I am not sure how this would be for a novice, but I found it pretty easy to apply. It looks great on the wall and seems very durable. There are nice tones in the print that could fit in with lots of different color schemes.
