Bought the king bed for our master bedroom. It is sturdy, well-made, and beautiful. It fits right in with our antiques. The bed is very high so you may want to not use boxsprings. Our bedskirt was not long enough so we will have to have one custom made. Very happy with purchase.

First let me say we love the bed. Saying that we think the headboard might be too heavy for the frame. Our bed broke where the headboard and frame are attached. The design might need to be rethought. Thanks

Beautiful and Classic yet functional

we bought this bed in the Queen. we absolutly love it! it is very well built and classic. It's high enough that you can store lots of things under the bed and even in the back of the bed. It's tall enough that you don't need a box spring. If you think you're going to use both the box spring and the mattess, the bed is VERY high! you'll have to jump on to bed. the sleigh backing is very comfy to rest on if you're reading a book or watching TV. I do agree that the base should have been more stable. However, we have never had a problem. We love this bed

Unstable on Hardwood Floors

I bought this bed 5 years ago in the honey stain which was discontinued much to my disappointment as I was planning on purchasing the matching night stand and wardrobe after saving up for them. The bed has two center supports screwed into the center slat. Had I known the bed required center supports I would not have bought it since a bed this expensive should be built more solidly. The center supports started moving and sliding almost immediately. After a year and a half the bed suddenly caved in, the center supports had moved and I hadn't noticed. To PB's credit they repaired the bed free of charge even though my warrenty had expired. Their customer service was excellent. Ever since then I've been crawling under the bed weekly to adjust the center posts. I love the look of the bed but it really bothers me that it isn't more solid. I'm about to purchase a rug to put under the bed in hopes that it solves the problem.

I purchased this bed in 2003 and am very happy with it. It has survived four moves and still looks great! I like the look of sleigh beds but do not like the usual confining foot board. The absence of the foot board allows for an easier flow, and lets me get on and off the bed on three sides. The headboard is functional and beautiful. It is high enough that I can lean on it when I read in bed and it has a nice finish.

A really great bed!

I like the look of a sleigh bed, but not those with tall footboards, which make the beds appear overbearing and confining. The Valencia bed has no footboard, so it looks open and inviting. This bed is very solid--no creaking or sagging. The slats are supported underneath by three legs (queen size bed.) I placed my mattress right on the slats--no box springs required. The wood finish is gorgeous, more beautiful than in the photos on PotteryBarn.com. The headboard makes a sizable statement with its dark mahogany finish, and could be a bit much in a small bedroom like mine. I reduced the effect of the size and dark finish with light decorative pillows and bedding. That allowed the lovely wood to frame the bedding and enhance my bedroom, not take it over. Lastly, I can't say enough about the terrific Pottery Barn delivery team. They arrived as scheduled and assembled my bed in minutes, leaving it in perfect condition, no dings at all. I am so grateful. Thanks, Pottery Barn!

King Bed is not well built

We have had this bed for three years, the bed is supported by the four legs and then underneath there are two screw in legs. Unfortunately, these legs have cracked and also have cracked the support frame under the mattress. We are not big people, not that that should matter, and I am upset that a bed I purchased to last many years, is now sagging in the middle.

love this bed

We bought this bed in 2005 and have moved once with it . It's held up very well! We love the rich espresso color.It's worth the price .
Would definitely recommend it !

i had the bed for most two years, recently i moved and i am glad the bed is easy to move around, if you have a tiny space, you can put tons of stuff underneath the bed and behind sleigh, and it is super comfortable to lean on the head board to read books before sleep, i love the vein of woods texture on the bed board, very warm and beautiful color as well. Highly recommended.

This is not only a beautiful bed, but great value for the money. Delivery was promptly scheduled, and the delivery team was professional and courteous. They assembled the bed in about 30 minutes, including unwrapping the parts and removing packing material. I ordered the queen size, which has not only a center support board on the platform, but also three legs on that center support. Two rows of slats are screwed to both the side rails and the center board, making a very sturdy bed. We use a mattress only, and I have never had a more comfortable bed. The finish is beautiful, and the low profile footboard allows this bed to not take over the room.
