Porter Pendant
Modeled after the antique lamps that once lit workshops in Paris, our Porter Pendant functions the same way the originals did, allowing you to easily lower or raise the pendant to light your space your way. Small: 9" diameter, 8" high, 8' cord Large: 16" diameter, 4.5" high, 8' cord Pendant is crafted in your choice of metal or glazed ivory ceramic. Available in 2 sizes. Beautiful Pendant

This is my second kitchen I ordered the Porter pendant for. The first time I had the large stainless steel pendant above the kitchen table, and the small one above the sink. Now I got just the large one because the kitchen lay-out is different. My only complaint is that in the meantime PB seems to have developed some kind of quality problem. This time with the first pendant the plastic screw with which one has to adjust the height was faulty, so I sent it back. The replacement pendant, which was not in its original packaging, then had a scratched shade. I thankfully was allowed to keep the 2. pendant until its replacement arrived, which then had a big dent on the upper part of the lamp in the area where the shade attaches. So I kept the already intalled upper part of the 1. replacement and attached the flawless shade of the 2. replacement to it. I love the pendant, but wish PB would do something about the quality control, especially when an item has been returned previously.

Great light but design issue

We love these lights and they went up very easy and look great. However, the 'plastic screw' that allows you to lower or raise the light and get the kinks out from packing does not work well. When we tried to loosen it, it would not budge and then broke into pieces! We were resourceful and were able to buy a nut that will fit, so we didn't need to uninstall and return the light. However, now we have two other lights we need to get the plastic screw out of. Since these lights hang straight, we will do that at a later date.

LOVE these lights! They look fantastic! They do take a little work to put up and are extremely heavy, but they look so well made and perfect when they are up! Not too tricky to hang, just heavy, a two person job. Love that the pulley system really works to help with small adjustments when they are in. They come a little "twisted" in the box, that took some figuring out, but other than that pretty simple to install and look fabulous!

Nice design, limited lighting

We love the design and the large lights looks great in our dining room. We did however return the 3-matching smaller fixtures slated for the kitchen because the ceramic shade gives no up-lighting at all. If I had read the product review comments, I would have seen the same disappointment from other customers.
With this design flaw prominently displayed from the customers, I am surprised that the manufacturer has not yet offered a milk-glass shade option. All in all a nice product if you know what to expect.

Great pendant light

This fixture is at once modern and classic. Easy to install if you are replacing a fixture or prewired. Assembly is about 3 minutes. However, the pulley is quite heavy, requires extra pair of hands to hold while connecting. Makes a great chandelier in a casual dining or kitchen setting. Fabulous value at this price.

I absolutely love the way these lights look over the island in the kitchen! I searched for several days before I found these, and loved them from the start. The weight and pulley system really adds character to these lights.

Perfect . . . but then again

Purchased the large IVORY pendant for above a round oak antique kitchen table. Love, love, love the look of it. Is the perfect style for our "farmhouse contemporary" kitchen. However, I think it should have been mentioned that the shade is "translucent" and gives only downward directed light. A transparent shade would have been better for us. Also, not until I read the instructions did I learn that there is lead in the product. How much lead???? Is that why its so heavy? Was expecting "white" product. Only place it said "Ivory" I now see is when one goes to the enlarged view. Despite the negatives, we are keeping it because we like the look so well, especially the pulley thingy. If a "see thru" shade ever becomes available for this light, I would definately purchase it

The lamp itself is beautiful and well made. The cording to raise and lower is a lot longer and will not work for the intented area that I had planned, over kitchen sink. However, I have new place for it over a small table that has a 9 foot ceiling so will work perfectly. Maybe if had more information regarding the length of up and down distance would have been helpful. Am very happy with purchase.

I am very pleased with my recent purchase of the Porter Pendant and filament light bulb. It was a perfect addition in my kitchen remodel. It was delivered in good time and the packaging was extraordinary to keep my purchase damage free. I will definetly order online again.

Porter Pendants indeal in the kitchen

I have purchased these pendants before and they were so great for my open kitchen and dining area that when the two pendants(not these) over a counter area ceased to function I knew I wanted to replace them with the Porter pendants! They not only provide excellent lighting but they are perfect design additions to the polished chrome hardware, stainless steel appliances, and other polished chrome accessories that are in the kitchen. The large pendants are hung horizontally down our dining table for 12, and the smaller ones are over the
triple sink and the counter that I mentioned. The sculptural lines of this pendant are serious statements about the blend of modern and traditional design. I could not be more delighted with them!

I received the large "ivory" Porter Light today for a remodel and was extremely disappointed. All photos appear white or off white at best. Even reviews describe it as white. The shade I received today was tan or dark, dark bisque. Maybe they have a new supplier, but unacceptable as is. It is going back. It could have been the perfect accent for the kitchen

Not a bad design, but I'm a bit disappointed

I purchased this lamp to be the main light hanging over my small (4-6 person) dining room table. The lamp definitely does not produce enough light to be the only lamp in the room, but that is not the lamps fault. It's 100W and hangs somewhat low, so I should not expect any different. If this was the only issue I had with the lamp, I would rate it highly because it is attractive to look at.
After putting the lamp up, I noticed a definite, pretty bad slant to the way the shade hangs off of the wire. It looks like it needs to be adjusted or something, but there is no way to make that adjustment. The way the lamp is designed, the portion that makes the lamp shade crooked is cemented in place. I still want to return this to the store and receive a new one, but I have not had a chance to take it down yet. I'm hoping Pottery Barn sends me a new lamp that doesn't have this problem, though I cannot comment on this yet.

Cord is falling apart

We have had these pendants installed for a year or two. I happened to touch the cord with my duster today and the covering fell off like a snake shedding its skin.
I am really disappointed in the quality. I wonder if PB has a replacement cord.

We bought two of these lights for over our kitchen table. Being able to raise the lights above chandelier height to near ceiling height gives us the option to move our table around depending on the party plan, without worrying about people hitting their heads on the fixtures. My husband cut the cords by about two feet to get rid of the excess, so that it fit our ceiling height better and gave it a sleeker look. They were easy to install and look great!

I purchased 2 of the small white pendants to go over my island. The white is a CRACKLE finish and the cord is grey not black. I expected them to be able to raise and lower easily on their own, but you actually have to release a holding pin around the cord to adjust. I have a 14 ft vaulted ceiling and there was more than enough cord. Hangs nicley. Can't beat the price - other models were in the $300.00 range.

I ordered 2 of the large pendants to hang over my dinning table. They look fantastic! The ceramic shade is a bit uneven but, I've found that by not tightening the ring that holds it in place all the way down I can adjust the shade so it is less noticable.

we needed a pair of pendants that had long drop lengths down from the ceiling. this one worked out perfectly. only problem is after 4 years, we broke one of the ivory (portery) portions of the lamp and the replacement lamp was a slightly different shade of "white", so we had to replace both pendants in order to retain the color match.
