I love the dinnerware! My number one reason is I do not have to change them to fit the many holidays, just a simple color/theme change does it all. I plan on adding more pieces.

Only one regret

I purchased PB WHite dinnerware several years ago because I liked the shape/size of the cereal bowl and the size of the dinner plate. We have not had any chips or breakage, and find that the PB white easily mixes with patterned dinnerware. My only regret is that I didn't purchase extra dinner plates at the time. The PB white plate now being sold is made in a different country, is a greyer shade of white, and is a different shape. So, buy a few more than you need for future use because PB White isn't consistently the same.

I spent a lot of $$ on this and not happy with how it is holding up. Very easily chips..I do NOT recommend it to anyone..

After having my PB White Dinnerware for 13 years, I decided to order some replacements for some of my missing pieces. As soon as I received my new order, I found the mugs are different from the original ones I have. The new openings of the mugs are wider, their bottoms are also wider. Over all, all the new dishes, mugs, soup bowls are slightly thicker and the quality are not good as the older ones. I was very surprised to see lots of the imperfections (such as not-so-smooth surface, small but visible sandy "dots") on the plates. For the price of these dishes, I can easily found perfect made dishes somewhere else. Plus, all the pieces look slightly different from the originals. I would not place the order if I knew there was a noticeable difference between the new ones and the old ones.

I bought replacement mugs for my 8 year old PB white set. After only four months the handles broke off while I was washing them. They must have changed manufactures since my last set was made because the quality is not what it was before.

Great wedding gift

I ordered these for my son & daughter-in-laws wedding shower. The dishes were beautiful! i ordered on line and they were delivered as promised. Ordering with Pottery Barn was easy and would definitely do it again. The wedding registery on line is a plus!

Purchased these 7 years ago and over time needed to replace some of the pieces. They are a little different from the original set purchased many years ago, but not so much that anyone will really notice.

PB White Dinnerware--I regret this purchase

I did not realize that there was a customer review page before I bought my PB White. In 3 months I've had many chips and
the dinner plates all have knife marks on the surface.
I never experienced this with my previous set which I had for over 20 years and used with small children. Big disappointment.

Still everything I wanted after 18 years

We have had this set for nearly 18 years and I still love its classic simplicity. I wanted a set that could be dressed up or down and this has fit the bill well. We've used it everyday with lots of guests and now two kids and it has held up well. Yes, we have broken or chipped a few pieces but no more than I would expect for daily use of fine china. I wish the cereal bowls had been available when we first received our set but I may add them. The soup bowls are great for pasta and soup but too large for cereal or desserts. I often use the dessert plates for children or at lunchtime. I do wish there were a few more coordinating serving pieces.

So far, this product has been holding up well at our house. I like to keep everyone helping do the chores in my kitchen, and so I need a sturdy set of dishes. I am not "into" Corelleware, and I found that Pfaltzgraff is easily chipped. So this was my next choice. So far, so good!

Beautiful but has some quality control issues

These dishes have a beautiful finish that looks great on the table, even mixed in with patterned bone china. I love the size and weight (not too light), and the shapes are a perfect blend of classic and contemporary.
I have to take off one star for quality control, though. Out of a 48-piece set, 7 pieces had glazing mistakes (small dot of brown showing) or slightly irregular shape at the bottom of dishes. On the plus side, the Pottery Barn store I purchased from let me exchange the irregular pieces for the best of their stock.
I'm hopeful that Pottery Barn will address consistency and start stocking higher quality versions in the future.

I purchased this pattern for my first home (in Monterey) 20 years ago. It survived a move from there to New Jersey as well as two moves in New Jersey. I broke one piece when I dropped a Calphalon pot on a coffee cup about 10 years ago and just chipped a soup bowl because I banged it against my stove, duh. So, in my experience they wear like iron. I love these dishes, I never get tired of them, I dress them up and down for whatever occasion and use them every single day. I always get compliments on them for their lyrical style, pristine esthetic and what a beautiful table setting they create.

I, too, bought this dinnerware for the classic styling and the feel of fine china. It has not held up well however. It chips very easily and I am now faced with either replacing pieces (in sets of 4) or looking for something else.
The design and style are great but the quality is very lacking for dinnerware at this price point.

My husband and I registered for the PB White dinnerware sets for our wedding. I loved the classic white look and that they could be dressed up or down to go with any decor and will never go out of style. To my dismay, aside from being very pricey, the dishes are thin and very breakable. After only two years (and in a home with no kids!), several of the dishes and bowls are chipped, and I have already broken and replaced one large plate and two cereal bowls. The most frustrating thing may be that it's difficult to buy just one replacement - you have a waste money on a set of 4! I will definitely be upgrading to a more high quality product as soon as possible.

I have owned PB white for over 5 years. I orginally registered for this product when I got married. I still have all the original pieces. I only recently have started seeing a few chips on the dinnerware as I'm not as cautious with them anymore. I have a little one now so most of the time I'm not giving the extra attention to loading the dishwasher or putting them away. In ceramics if you handle them roughly they may chip. That is the nature of the material. Overall I am extremely happy with these. They also layer very well with my formal china. I would highly recommend.

I've had this set for two years and of 8 bowls, down to 3. They break easily. The dinner plates don't fit in dishwasher well and they have chipped easily. One of the dinner plates broke, as well. I have another set of porcelain dinner plates from a different manufacturer that have lasted for 20 years. Needless to say, I'm disappointed in the quality of the PB White dinner wear and would not purchase again to fill in for the broken/chipped pieces.

I like that they are neutral, but pieces chipped after only a few months of use. Now, after 5 years, every bowl is chipped, almost every dinner and salad plate, and the mugs are beginning to chip. I am looking forward to replacing them as soon as I find the extra money in my budget. I do not think I will get my new ones from PB just in case....
