Not a good first impression

Very disappointed in this door knocker. The quality is nice but you cannot see the engraved letter at all on the brushed nickel finish. It is also not returnable since it was personalized. Would not recommend.

When my husband saw the door knocker he said, "Welcome to my castle." It is bigger and heavier than expected, which was a pleasant surprise. Big and simple. Love it.

I purchased the oval door knocker in pewter and chose to engrave my last name initial on it. The knocker arrived promptly, but had a strange yellowish stain on the knocker piece. I took a photo, emailed customer service and the next day there was a UPS pick-up scheduled and a replacement on its way. I appreciated how willing Pottery Barn was to replace a personalized item. The knocker itself is very heavy duty and I suspect it will last for many years. The nickel finish is ever so slightly different from our knob and deadbolt finish (satin nickel), but afterall it's called 'pewter," not nickel. The design is such that you can remove it without further damaging the door (since we'll need to replace if we move), but as previous comments have noted, the size might be difficult to match in another knocker if fading has occurred due to sun exposure. I'm not worried about that for now- just enjoying the improved curb appeal.

Just the Right Touch

We just bought a new house and the hardware (handle & lock) that the builder installed is oval shaped and brushed nickel in color. I could not find anything to match until I spotted this beauty online. It is the perfect size and the color matches perfectly. It is well made and looks like a million bucks. The only thing that I would liked to have changed is the script style of the monogram but there was only one choice. Of course, I didn't need to have the monogramming at all but I find it an elegant touch.

I love this door knocker. I got mine in the antique bronze and it matches all of the ohter accessories by my front door beautifully! It's definitely noticeable and we've received many compliments on it already!

Pewter finish does not stay nice!

Bought this door knocker a couple of years ago. Within a year, the finish did not stay looking "bright"; it now looks old and dull. The door knocker is on a door protected from the elements. I cannot find another knocker to replace the void it left on my door from installation. Think before you purchase!

I purchased the bronze finish door knocker. It is almost black. It has no texture just a smooth finish. I have a red door and the contrast is really nice. It has a more modern traditional look.

Substantial door knocker

The oval door knocker is the perfect size & more substantial than expected. Goes with my freshly painted mossy green front door. It exceeded my expectations.

I bought this in brass for my boyfriend when he bought his first house as a housewarming present. We've since changed the doorknobs to oil rubbed bronze so I ordered another one and I love it just as much. Very nicely made and elegant!

Just bought a new home in the fall and was looking for something simple. I bought the pewter/nickle colored one and I really like it. It is simple and elegant and adds a lot to your door. A definate must have.
