ABSOLUTLEY GORGEOUS!
January 13, 2013
My husband and I have the most beautiful artificial Christmas tree. I have been looking for just the right, exact, perfect tree topper for at least 15 years. This is it! It is perfect! This tree topper is especially pretty at night, when all the lights are turned off in the living room, the tree lights are on, and the reflection of the mirrors are lighting up the room. Thank you Pottery Barn!

Tree Topper
January 3, 2013
Loved this tree topper online. It only has mirror on one side, other side is black cardboard. It also has a weird clamp to attach it to tree and we couldn't get it to stay on the tree. Asked in the store and they said it was best used with artificial trees! Pretty but not functional

Very poor design & misleading description
January 2, 2013
The star was pretty but the back was flat black tacky cardboard. It also didn't have a cone like the measurement description said. The best way I could get it to sit in my tree the star was covered up by part of the tree. Even that way the star was not secure. They must have tethered the star to the trees in the pictures.
BOTTOM LINE: No one would buy this if they could see what they were actually getting.

Does not attach to tree
December 24, 2012
This tree topper is beautiful but does not have the "cone" they describe to sit on the top of the tree. I have no idea how it's supposed to attach to the tree and it's heavy - so would likely fall off regardless.

Do Not Buy
December 18, 2012
This Tree Topper is impossible to get on the top of the tree. It has huge horse shoe that is supposedly to wrap around the tree base, and has no adjustments to the size of your tree. I still have it, and did not use it, because the box was destroyed after I took it out and the receipt was on the box so I'm stuck with it. From all the poor reviews, PB should give everyone a refund or a reward certificate to get something else. Do not Buy!!!

Poorly Designed
December 11, 2012
This tree topper is beautiful. Only problem is..the hook is poorly designed. We had to bend the hook backward..then Zip tie the top. This star is no easy task to get on the tree, but once you do..it is worth it!

Love it!
December 8, 2012
I fell in love with this star the second I found it online. I got on to write my comments, which I never do, and saw all the negative ones. Yes it is flat on one side, so it can really only be appreciated from the front. But, I am considering purchasing a second star to see if I can put them back to back for a 3-deminsional effect. As far as fastening the star, simply use zip ties. That's the way they had it secured in the store and it works perfect at home. I had no problems getting it up and it looks beautiful!! Way better then any star I've found so far! Plus it looks just gorgeous with the mercury glass and gold ornaments on the tree.

Cardboard on one side Star on the other side
December 6, 2012
The side of the star with the cardboard is flat (this could be hung on a wall like a painting flat). Therefore the pretty star can only be seen from one angel-looking at it straight on. Plus it's heavy and can't be easily secured to the tree. And the cardboard is secured on the back of the star using the same kind of fasteners that photo frames use when you take off the cardboard backing put your photo in and put the cardboard back on and fasten. You guessed it-makes the product look cheap cheap cheap. It's too bad because if the star was a star all the way around and a little lighter it would have been nice to look at.

Beautiful... but thats about it.
December 6, 2012
This star is exactly what I have spent 2 years looking for. However, upon receiving it I am very disappointed. Its beautiful - from the front. The back is cardboard, so I had to put my georgous 9 ft tree in a corner in order to hide the back of the star. And then, what everyone has commented on - we had to figure out how in the world to actually affix it to the tree. This star DOES NOT COME ON A CONE HOLDER as the product description states. It comes on an odd horseshoe shaped peice of metal that I think, in theory, is supposed to just sit on the branches. Yeah right. My husband squeezed the horseshoe together to grip the tree, which did work, however we also had to use 2 zip ties in order to hold the star upright. I read the previous comments before I ordered and went ahead and ordered anyways because it was so pretty & really, I just couldnt imagine that it was actually that difficult to put a star on a tree. It is.

December 6, 2012
Im also having trouble keeping it on the tree. Will try the wire ties, as suggested, but be prepared to balance on a ladder trying to get it to stay.. otherwise its beautiful.

Frustration
December 1, 2012
It's gorgeous! It's the perfect size for our 9 footer! I love it! If only we could actually affix it to the tree. My husband stood on a ladder trying to find a way to make that huge horseshoe thing go around our tree trunk for over an hour. Short of leaving him up there to hold it in place through the holidays, there is no way we can use it. I'm so, so disappointed.

Beautiful
November 30, 2012
I bought this topper in 2011 so this is my second year with it. I read so many people sending it back because it's heavy and doesnt secure properly. I don't have a problem with mine because I use twisty ties. It takes 3 (fairly strong ones more for electronics). I have a 7 ft fake tree and with twisty ties I have no problem at all. I cant say with a live tree how it would work. The topper is beautiful. I do think it's a shame that it does not secure to the tree on its own but for how pretty I think it is I can look over that.

What Ginormous Tree Does This Fit On?
November 28, 2012
I wish PB made their comments a little easier to find...had I seen the number of people who commented on the ridiculousness of this thing, I wouldn't have ordered it. It weighs almost as much as my 7 foot tree, first of all. Secondly, it didn't come with the magical fairy needed to secure it to the tree....it only came with a horseshoe. Maybe if gravity weren't pulling it to the ground, it would work. Darn gravity.
Sending. it. back.

Beautiful but heavy
October 19, 2012
I agree with everyone else. It's very beautiful but also heavy and I'm not sure how you could attach it securely to the tree. I thought I was missing the "cone" that they describe online, but after talking to customer service, it is just the horseshoe shaped metal made of thick iron. You would need some pretty hefty pliers to get it to close! Unfortunately, I will be returning this.

Pretty but useless
October 15, 2012
I fell in love with this tree topper in 2011 and couldn't wait to buy it for 2012. However, once it arrived I realized there is no way to attach this heavy star on any tree. It is a rod with a U-shaped holder that is supposed to hang on the tree. Every other comment is accurate regarding how difficult it is to hang this star. Impossible. Unfortunately, I will be returning this.

Beautiful but NOT practical...disappointed.
December 12, 2011
Gorgeous idea as far as how the star itself LOOKS but bad idea ALL AROUND as far as how it's engineered.
WAY TOO HEAVY for a tree topper!! I had to take a break from getting the darn thing up on my tree because it weighs so much, it's bending the top part of my tree over AND we have a nice, expensive, high quality tree. On top of that, as another customer stated, there is no "cone" to "easily" put it on your tree - there is a long, metal rod sticking out of the bottom, with a u-shaped piece at the bottom that faces OUTWARD, towards the front of the topper. Why on earth would you want to try and attach it to your tree that way?
Secondly, it's too loose to even "attach" it to anything - it's pointless. Hubby and I are going to have to figure out a way to rig it with ties or something or it won't work.
Really irritating, Pottery Barn...super disappointed. For the price, this should definitely have been thought out MUCH better. 2 stars because I think the star is pretty itself.

???? How does it stay on????
December 4, 2011
So the star is pretty but has a cardboard back. The bad part is it doesn't stay on the tree, it has a weird backward horseshoe thing. I had to use twist ties... Not too happy with this purchase

Disappointed
December 4, 2011
Was so disappointed in this tree topper. While it is beautiful, there is no way to attach it to the tree. Just a post with a u shape at the end. I had to wire it to the tree but it is very heavy so should be attached with something very strong. You should also know that the back of the star is black card board. Not the same on both sides. :(

Not as described
November 28, 2011
Lovely photos on this site, not quite what arrived. This item has a flat black cardboard back and no "cone holder", only a long pencil-thick rod ending in a sideways horseshoe that opens toward the front. If it opened toward the back, one could place it where desired and rig a way to close or otherwise secure the horseshoe. As it is, we have no idea how to keep this from falling off of our tree and are very glad that there is a "back" side of the tree that nobody will see.
