I ordered this table in hopes of it having a darker rustic style finish due to my three year old son being so hard on things. It has scratched and chipped in two different places from my son placing his popcorn bowl on top. I do not knock stars off because I believe I got a fair price for the product and I was looking for something in the intentions of knowing it was going to get roughed up by the little one. I have went to just about every furniture store near my home +50 mile radius and there is just nothing that compares. My great room is smaller so this fits perfectly w/o the room looking cluttered by one peice of furniture. I will be back to buy a console table but that's it for this set. (I don't like matching furniture). I believe in a smaller home, less is more and you should never match all your peices excatly. You want the rooms to look divided but flow nicely and I hope this peice will last throughout the years atleast until we sell.

Nice Solid Piece!

I love that this table is heavy solid wood, but the design with the legs makes it seem delicate. It definitely gives more space to the room than one of the heavy trunks or ottomans that I was considering instead. Plus, any fool could assemble it in a minute. The finish is beautiful. I haven't experienced any problems with it yet like some other reviewers have. They use multiple coats to create the finish, and if one of those coats doesn't dry thoroughly, I see how it can start to come off. So far, so good.

This coffee table is absolutely gorgeous. Very good quality, well-made. My only complaint would be its a bit dark for my room, didn't look quite that dark in the catalog. However I don't want to part with it, in fact I plan on buying the matching end table shortly.

This is a really beautiful table--well made, nicely finished. It is the most handsome piece of furniture in our living room--I guess we will have to buy more!

love this coffee table looks better than in the catalog
the wrench they send to assemble the legs to the top is not the best but is better than no tool at all if you don't have access to your own

Love it so far

I bought the Mahogany Turned-Leg Coffee Table & TV Stand about a month ago and have been totally happy with them. I put my laptop on the coffee table, my feet, magazines, etc but use coasters. So far, no problems with flaking. The first TV stand PB delivered was dented and they offered me a 10% discount, so I asked for a replacement instead, which they agreed to - we had some delivery snafus but it ultimately worked out and they worked with me. These are nice, big, sturdy pieces that I hope to have for a long time.

I purchased this coffee table in January 2010 in the Antique Mahogany colour. I'm surprised to hear of the other 2 reviews where they are experiencing flaking. I also own the Hyde Console with the straight legs and have not had any problems with this piece either. Both pieces are beautiful and plan on purchasing the side table next.

Problem with the finish

I love the style and color of this table so much, but after two months of owning it the finish started to flake off! I called and complained and got a call back from the district manager. I go the table replaced, but am afraid the problem is going to happen again. I still have my receipt and plan on returning it and finding something I like elsewhere if it gets worse (which I am expecting). There is currently one large spot on the finish that looks as if its loose and about to flake off. It really is a shame and I wish that they would get the problem fixed because I love the look of this table! I also did purchase this table with the pine finish ... not sure if the issue is specific to that finish or not.

2 times the trouble

I am an advid PB shopper and have loved our past purchases. We bought the Hyde coffee table and after a few weeks noticed several scratches appearing. We ended up exchanging the table for another Hyde coffee table and wish we hadn't. This time several small circle chunks have come off the wood. We have treated the table gently and so we are disappointed by the quality. At this point I'm not sure I can exchange it for a different coffee table all together.
