SHEDDING DISASTER

I love the look of this rug, and it's very comfortable underfoot. However, it is a complete disaster. This rug sheds everywhere, it creates so much "dust" on my hardwood floors throughout the house and never mind the fact that my children look like they rolled around on a white dog after simply sitting on the rug. Again, love the look but would never buy this again. I should try to return it but not sure if I can.

While the rug was well made and looked great EVERYONE in my home was wildly allergic to it. We couldn't figure out what was causing our red itichy swollen eyes until we tracked it back to the day we got the rug. Within 10 minutes of removing the rug from our home all our symptoms vanished!

beware of shedding!

We purchased this rug (in red--no longer available) in July 2008, after a long search for the perfect rug. I fell in love with the simple and clean design--and knew it would be perfect for our apartment.
However, I agree with other reviewers on the shedding. I can attest to red fuzz on every article of clothing we own since the day we purchased it. While the rug has held up well in those 4.5 years, the shedding hasn't stopped. (I literally just shut off the vacuum and decided to leave this review.)
My takeaway: if you're not happy with vacuuming, stay away!

The rug is nice, but I have it in my toddlers room and have had it for several months and it sheds sooooo much. It's all over our clothes and all over my house.

If this was a more expensive rug (got it on sale), it would be worth the trouble of returning it - however we kept it because the color is perfect for the living room and our pup is not allergic to it. When we opened it, it seemed as though the color from the backing had rubbed off a bit onto the rug itself (enough to dull the overall brightness). Moreover, it SHEDS LIKE CRAZY...it's been a few months now, and its fibers still cover the surrounding wood floors (all the way into the kitchen...dining...stairs) - like tumble weeds...everywhere (and we vacuum daily!!). Would NOT recommend this product.

Unexpected Poor Quality

When I ordered this rug it was supposedly on back order until July, however it was delivered within the week. The wrapping was torn open on one end allowing the wet weather to get through to the rug. After taking the rug out of the insufficient plastic wrap and unrolling it, it seems as though this rug may have been a return or at the very least a very old rug. The rug has permanent creases in the middle which after one week of sitting on the floor do not smooth out. The back of the rug is very hard as if it is dried out and most likely these creases will never come out. The best I can hope for now is to put my dining room table on this rug and hope people will not notice. It is a shame this rug was over $700. I will never buy a rug again from Pottery Barn. It is too much of a risk to spend my hard earned dollars on something that does not look like the picture in the magazine and can not preview it in a store first. I wish I could have gotten what I had expected and had hoped for.
