Looks great, but....

I own a set of the Great White Square Dinnerware. I've had the set for about 2 years. I love the look. I think the dinner plates are a bit heavy, but until now that was the worst think I could say about the set.
Today, my husband was heating something in the microwave on one of the salad plates when he heard a loud crack. The plate had cracked down the center! How disappointing. I've had dishes that cost far less that lasted much longer.

I absolutely love these dishes. They are just like the ones I have seen out in restaurants, except these are my very own! They are spacious enough to make your display of food look amazing. I would recommend these dishes to anyone who loves to entertain and loves to show off the meal in a great dinnerware set! You will get many compliments. and they are strong too.
I had guests over for dinner, and they complimented me on my dishes before I even had the food on them!!!

I must compliment and give enormous kudos to Pottery Barn for superb packaging for shipment. I purchased two sets of Great White Square Dinnerware, and not one piece was damaged in shipment. These place settings are extremely generous in size--BIG plates. Bistro like, very sturdy dinnerware--weight to them. Fabulous. They are perfect for everyday, but most excellent for any formal event on your table. It's hip to be SQUARE.

We registered for this dinnerware for our wedding and got 12 full sets. It is the worst dinnerware I have ever had. Although it is very pretty, NONE, not a single plate (dinner or salad), sits level therefore we have to put dish towels under the plates just so we can enjoy our dinner. The plates are very loud when they rock back and forth which is a little embarrassing when trying to host a dinner party. They are definitely not worth the money. I would never recommend this dinnerware. Sorry, I normally love PB products, but these are very poorly made.

I love the simplicity of this dinnerware. Simple, contemporary lines gives this set loads of versatility for table setting. Only small negative is that the dishes aren't completely flat, which when setting the table with multiple stacking made them wabble.

Beautiful but disappointing

I have 8 dinner and 8 salad plates and have had them in everyday use for 3 months. The very first time I used my dinner plates, I ladled on the hot dinner and the plate split in 2 pieces. Then today, I microwaved a salad plate to reheat my lunch and it cracked also. Is anyone else having these problems? I also have experienced a few of them wobbling because the bottoms aren't level. That makes me sad since I replaced a Pfaltzcraft pattern with these....and I had less trouble with the Pfaltzcraft than I've had with the Pottery Barn plates. So sad.

I was looking for porcelain dinnerware to replace my every day stoneware which was chipped and had dark scratches from using dinner knives on them. The square white porcelain set is very smart looking and I expect it to last for many years. Porcelain is less prone to chips and scratches than stoneware. The table looks quite stylish when set with this dinnerware. The only reason I gave it four stars is because the plates are noticably heavier than any I've ever owned and I would have preferred something lighter. That said, I'm very pleased with the product and intend to add more pieces.
Delivery was surprisingly fast and it arrived in perfect condition. Pottery Barn excells again!

I bought the Great White Square in store in January and have been using them every day for about 10 months. They're just the right size to fit in my cabinets and aren't too big for the dishwasher. I'm also hard on dishes - I'm not remotely careful with them, and in 10 months I've only managed to break 1 salad plate.
They have no chips, scratches, or stains and my only complaint is that they are a little wobbly - which is easily fixed with placemats. They're substantial without being too heavy to lift in a stack to put away or carry into the dining room. As far as color is concerned mine were a perfect white white.
Overall I would definitely recommend these and do whenever anyone is shopping for new dishes.

Purchased these for everyday use, but use them for informal dinners as well. They are beautiful, high quality, sturdy pieces. I purchased the small rectangle asparagas plates, which I use for smaller meals, appetizers, etc. My family and guests love them.

It's not white/white, it is the blue/grey/white

I found this online after another dinnerset I had ordered was delayed. It is for a wedding present so timing is important. I have just looked at the set and am extemely disappointed. It is not the true white that I associate with quality porcelain. It is the blue/grey white that I do not like and looks 'off' with other true white products - so you cannot mix and match with good quality serving platters etc. I would have loved to have purchased this one, but am disappointed.
