The hardware is much improved, but the span of the hardware is 14" while studs are 16" apart. Otherwise we love the product.

I bought a few of these ledges for my daughter's room and they are so beautiful! They go perfectly with her Hailey PBK bedding and are the most stable, well-built shelves we've ever had. I have a different brand in my son's room but will be purchasing these in the black for him instead. Because of how these are hung, there is no way they are coming down off the wall which was important to me living in CA, an earthquake-prone state. The molding on them is just perfect and I am also going to purchase them for my room as well! I love them!

I purchsed these ledges to hang above my couch in my family room. They were easy to mount on the wall and look great. I also love that the color of the shelves is an exact match to the daily system which is on another wall of mine in the next room. I am considering purchasing more of these shelves for my office decor.

Purchased 3 of the 3' Crown Molding Ledges in the expresso finish for my parents. Was very pleased with the quality of the items, the design of the mounting hardware, and the packaging. Like some of your other customers, however, I did have some difficulty trying to get the hardware on the ledge to engage with the hardware I had mounted to the wall. After a lot of trial and error and knicking two of the ledges from dropping them on the floor a few times, I finally smartened up and remounted the the hardware to the wall using two washers (as spacers) for each of the four screws. Hint: I placed the washers between the wall and the wall-mounted hardware so that the piece would extend deeper into the ledge. By the time I got around to the third ledge, I'd had enough practice that mounting seemed easy. All three ledges look great -- aside from those knicks -- and are firmly mounted to the wall. Shelf Design: How it's done

The black crown moulding ledge design is perfect in all facets of its design and profile... oh did I mention budget-friendly! It accomodates centering with it's tongue-and-groove attachment design. I opted to use zink drywall anchors instead of the molly screws that come with the ledge because I've encountered molly screw flanges thet don't open. It's an additional $0.65, so it's definitely not a deal-breaker. I faux finished mine to pick of the metallic hues in the focal wall, companion mirror and ceiling design. It's the PERFECT decor piece!

Problem with Crown molding ledge

I recently bought the 4 foot crown molding ledge and I was very disappointed with the design of the hanging bracket. The shelf will not lock to the portion you fasten to the wall. I watched the hanging video prior to my attempt on hanging the shelf. I plan on returning the 4 foot ledge. I bought a similar shelf a few years ago from Pottery Barn and the the design of the hanging bracket was so easy to install.. The new hanging design does not work as intended. The shelf would not lock and the shelf ended up marking the wall. Now I have to patch the holes in the walls and touch up the paint.

Agree with the earlier comments. These are NOT easy to install as the lip does not catch easily in the back of the ledges. I bought two of the ledges, and my husband is still trying to put the last one up after working on it for over an hour... and he is handy around the house, so it's not due to lack of skill. However, we finally have one of them up on the wall, and it does look great. I'm sure I will be happy with them once they are installed.

We hung 2 of these above the shelf as shown in the picture. Worked out very well for a blank wall. My husband hung them with careful planning. They look great. Would absolutely buy them again.

I ordered on line the 48" ledge, received promptly. It was beautiful and reasonably priced. I had to return it as it did not
fit my space overall, it was too heavy looking. I would purchase any ot them again for other areas.

Part of the Picture

I just purchased a new print of a picture my husband's cousin had painted. She's young and has a lot of talent. The place where I wanted to hang it already had a huge painting and this wasn't near as big. The space needed more to fill it up and that is where this ledge comes in. We had the print professionally framed and the frame and ledge look as if they were made for each other. Good job, Pottery Barn. It's perfect!

I am proud to say that I did not have to ask for help on the installation--the ledges are sturdy and easy to install on the wall.Photo groupings are easy to change out as grandkids pictures are updated.

I needed to dress up the wall above the queen size bed in my guest room, since I didn't have a headboard. I bought the 48inch shelf and installed it high enough above the bed so I could stack the pillows and shams against the wall under it. I put some of my favorite things on the shelf and it looks fantastic! No need for a headboard. It was also very easy to install. Love it, and so do my guests.

I ordered three 4ft crown molding ledges in black. I did have some trouble hanging them, but it was only because my walls were not flat. Easy fix was to shorten the aluminum hanging bars that came with the ledges (about 12"). We hung them one under the other 17" apart. They look awesome!! I absolutely love them!!! We display family pictures and other decor on the ledges...and the price was definitely reasonable!! I've gotten numerous compliments!! Thank you Pottery Barn!!

Our last bear wall needed something but we just couldn't decide on what it should be. When I thought of the floating shelves my husband agreed and we started the hunt. I checked everywhere on line and in stores too. We couldn't be happier with our Pottery Barn purchase. It needs to be filed under "You get what you pay for." We found much cheaper ones but are so glad that we went with the PB quality. They look wonderful and fill the space perfectly. We had our handy man put them up for us and he loved them too. They really are very well made and look super. Best part is that we have the shelves (we bought 3 total) up forever and have the option to change the items displayed anytime that we have the urge. Couldn't be happier with out choice!
