Glad I have It
November 22, 2012
It took a bit longer than usual to hang the rack even for my very handy husband, as the shelf somehow was not even, but he managed to level it, and the rack is beautiful and useful in our small hallway between two bedrooms and the bathroom.
I have this rack for over than a year, and love it: I can keep additional towels on the shelf, and dry them after taking shower. Great ideas to make these train racks. I also have the Mirror Train Rack in my guest room. Could not be happier!!!

Terrible product
September 12, 2012
First of all, the anchors that were sent with it are way too small for the screws you sent with it. I had to go buy new anchors.
Second, when trying to screw in the screws, the holes are way to close to the bar that sticks out. It is completely impossible to screw in with a drill, and nearly worse by hand. The screws can not go in straight due to how close they are to the bar.
Third, the back of the rack is not straight. When attached to wall it rocks because the bars are not equal in length. So, when I do get all the screws in, one side will not go all the way against the wall.
Lastly, the shelf that sits on top is not level. One side sticks up and does not sit flush on the bar.

Great addition to our Bath
July 11, 2012
Purchased this as we had something similar before we moved, and wanted another to hang robes, nightclothes, etc. The previous rack was costlier and didn't want to break the budget. This rack is perfect and very well built for the price. Had a small problem with installation, but was easy to remedy. I would certainly recommend this purchase.

Great rack. Bad screws and anchors.
February 16, 2012
I agree with all previous comments about the screws and anchors. Do not use them. Go to the hardware store and get new ones. Great rack though and the pewter was only $50! Well worth that price.

Horrible installation
January 27, 2012
The train rack looks great, but the installation was horrible. I really wish I had read the other reviews and used my own screws and anchors from the start.
The screws stripped almost immediately and never did make it through the anchor. What a terrible experience! It makes me wish I'd never bought this.

A new family heirloom
October 14, 2011
I really have not had the chance to use this product as of yet - due to a delay in our remodeling but I can't wait. I've been telling everyone about my train rack. Although it was far more than I intended on paying for a towel rack I intend for this piece to be a heirloom that I will take to my next home and pass on to family.

Great bathroom piece
September 23, 2011
I love the quality of the train rack and feel that it adds a lot to our renovated bathroom space. However, the screws, which were chrome plated to match the chrome of the rack, were not adequate to hang the unit. The screws had chrome in the center of the Phillips head and easily stripped. In addition, the screws did not fit the provided drywall anchors. We ended up using plain screws and matching drywall anchors from Lowes and hanging it.
Overall, looks great! But install was trickier than I would have expected.

love it!

Many people commented that their train racks were warped so I was a little worried when I first purchased it. When I got it, it did indeed seem to be warped but after having my husband play with it we realized that it just needed to be leveled. There is a little bit of play where the crossbars meet up and if you just put it on the floor as you would on your wall and gently press down it will level out. The way the rack is constructed (very well in my opinion) there is no way for it to be warped.

Sturdy train rack
July 6, 2011
We looked all over the internet for a train rack that came in brushed nickel and didn't look like we took it off a motel wall. I was surprised how heavy it is. We did get heavier duty bolts to hang it. The guy at the hardware store had good suggestions on the type that would not cause the shelf to damage the dry wall.
It is rather difficult to install b/c of the position of the ends of the bottom bar and the weight.
Otherwise we are happy with the end result.

Poorly constructed
December 25, 2010
Item was warped and uneven. The rack would not lay properly against the wall. With lots of sweat and the right tools, my husband was able to tweak the rack so that it did not appear quite so uneven. I would not recommend this product.

This rack was not only easy to put up, but looks great. A perfect addition to any bathroom. We have a small bathroom without much storage space, so this was a welcome addition. Very cute also.

Should have read other reviews first!
July 21, 2010
I loved the way this looked and wanted to update my bathroom but when it arrived the rack was a bit uneven looking. I was still hoping I could make it work but the wire shelf that sits on the rack was so warped that I had to send it back. A replacement is on its way but if I had read these reviews I would have just returned it. It seemed very cheaply made but the metal is pretty heavy.

Disappointing Bathroom Fixture...
July 17, 2010
I ordered this train rack twice. The first one arrived with a broken soldering point on the shelf and was immediately returned. The second one appeared okay at first glance. The anchors completely destroyed my walls so I highly recommend purchasing your own hardware before installing. The second train rack ended up being completely warped. The main bar was different sizes from end to end and the shelf wouldn't lay flat due to the warped frame. I usually find Pottery Barn items to be of good quality. This item is an exception and has steered me away from buying any more fixtures for my new home from Pottery Barn.

Great Piece, Terrible Hardware
July 8, 2010
I also found installation for the Covington Train Rack to be an ordeal. The included screws were badly made, stripped almost immediately, and actually snapped in half when I tried to remove them and the dry wall anchor from the rack. To avoid the problem of the holes left behind by the drywall anchor screws I had to use larger drywall screw-in anchors and screws Also, the placement of the holes for the screws on the rack itself makes it extremely difficult to screw the rack into the anchors.
However, now that the rack is actually up on the wall, I am very happy with its function and style. Anyone who wants this rack should count on at least one other person to help during installation, and should make their own decision in terms of what anchors are best.

Big time disappointment
June 17, 2010
We have purchased many items from PB and have been very pleased. Unfortunately, the train rack was a hugh mistake. The hardware is not adequate for installation. The anchor bolts stripped and there are hugh holes in the wall; requiring a professional drywaller to repair. The installation process is not true to the instructions. Additionally, the screws are too long to clear the decorative end caps, which required a complete disassembly of the rack. We have hung numerous items and never went through such agony.
