rare flawed product by PB

I saw flaws with the version found at my local PB and purchased online instead to be shipped as a gift for my son. He was very disappointed as several metal lids detached from the plastic suction seals. Needless to say it is being returned this week. This is the first time I can remember ever having to make a return for a flawed product to Pottery Barn.

Spice Rack and Jars

I love the spice rack and jars that I ordered, the rack is very sturdy and the jars are a good size. They are not the tiny little jars you get with most racks. The set is nice looking, something you don't mind having sit on your counter for people to see. I am thinking of ordering a second set.

Jars were disappointing

Loved the look and functionality of the spice rack. The jars, however, were a disappointment. The lids fit very snug and that makes it difficult to remove and replace them. I've had three jars replaced already due to chipping or breakage. One lid fit so tight that I was unable to get it back on the jar for fear of breaking the jar.

Great Spice Rack

I love this item. It has a very classy look and goes with everything. The only problem I had was with one jar which was really difficult to open. I gave up and ordered a replacement jar, then naturally . . . . got the existing one open. Jars are great to scatter around so glad I got a couple of extras. Recommend this item.

I like this spice rack. It's nice looking and the see through glass jars are cute.
However, it is not as described. It says that it is 10" wide which would have fit perfectly in my cabinet near the stove, but it's not 10" wide, it's 15" wide. BIG difference.
Since I liked it, I rearranged my kitchen and put it on a nearby shelf. However, despite someone else pointing out that this was not the right dimension looks like last August (I didn't read the reviews first, darn, I couldn't find any for this at the time) it still has the wrong dimensions listed.
Also, some of the little spice jars are hard to get the lids back on to. That's kind of a bummer. I guess that I could exchange some of them for ones that are not broken, but I haven't had time to do this (who does?).
Also, it would be better to have more, thinner spice jars because you don't really need these big huge jars, but you do need more than 8 spices (just 8 jars fit on the rack).

Love my spice rack

I received the spice rack and it was everything I had hoped it to be. The only issue I had was the actual width was wider than posted on the website. The width does not include the side handles. I should have had at least one inch on each side of my counter top but the spice rack wouldn't fit. It was about 1/2 inch too wide. I had to find another place to locate my spice rack and all ended up working out. I also found some vintage hanging tags with twine about an inch big that I use as lables for my spice bottles. I recommend to anyone that is looking for a spice rack to buy.

Nice bronze finish, however. . .

I think the spice rack is way over-priced, but I purchased it because the bronze finish matched my new kitchen perfectly, and I couldn't find another that did. The first one I received had to be returned because the bronze finish was chipped off at several of the joints and the spots were rusted! That is one reason I am rating it with only 3 stars. Also, some of the jar lids do not fit securely, so don't ever pick the jar up by the lid. All that said, Pottery Barn responded quickly to my problem and arranged for the spice rack to be picked up and shipped me a new one. The second one is fine so far. I do love the look of the rack and I think it compliments other things in my kitchen beautifully.

pleased with spice rack and jars but very disappointed that the order did not include labels for the jars as pictured in the catalog. i would rate this product as a useable and tastefully designed.

Whilst size-wise better for constant cooks and big families, these were perfect filled only half-way (so the herbs & spices don't age and lose their flavor or coloring). The lettering went on very easily, and having blank labels included will be most handy for more esoteric items. Some of the lids fit a little more snugly than others, the nature of hand forged items, but nothing noticeable to the eye or restricting to usage. I got both this and the carousel and will write the same on both: beauty & function, well worth more than I'd normally pay for a spice set. A "little" pricy, yes. But lovely as an 'investment'.
