We just bought this desk and the drawers work fine. I did ask the sales person about the comments that the drawers only open a few inches and he said usually that happens because there is a hunk of foam stuck behind the drawer that the buyer forgets to remove.

File cabinets are awful!!

I am so disappointed with this product. I wish I would have read ALL the reviews before I purchased. The top file drawer does not pull all the way out (only pulls about about 4 inches) which pretty much makes this worthless. Has anyone had luck replacing the glides with longer ones?

Great Desk! Found better option for desk protector

I just wanted to share my experience with the Bedford corner desk in White. I looked all over for a white desk for my office and this was by far the best one I found. I wasn't sure about spending that much, but I am glad that I did. It looks great in my office.
Desk Protector - everyone comments on how expensive the acrylic desk protector is. And I agree...it's outrageous! I went down to our local glass cutting store and they were able to cut me a 1/4" thick piece of glass. Still in 3 pieces because they told me the inside angle (where you sit) would be fragile and potentially crack. But it's perfect! It looks so great on my desk and it was only $90. Much nicer and way better price than the acrylic topper. And now I don't worry as much about putting things on the desk.
Overall a great product! Planning to get more pieces to finish out my office.

More and More Frustrated with this Desk Everyday

I have posted regarding this desk before but want to reiterate how poor the quality of the wood is. I just again barely nudged the top of the desk with the back of my desk chair (a cloth desk chair, mind you), and again the edge of the desk has chipped. A significant and glaring chip. We now have 6 chips on the edge of the desk, and I need to say that I take extra care to avoid hitting the desk with the chair. In fact, I experience more stress avoiding contact between the chair and the desk than I ever should considering we spent over $2,000 on our Bedford system. We have had the desk for less than a year. Pottery Barn did contact me after my last comment but unfortunately was unable to help because we bought our system in a store (though with a credit card, which you would think would be in their system). I was told I'd have to go back to the store. That would be simple if the nearest store wasn't an hour away.

How to clean your desktop w/o expensive protector

I love my desk, but I just couldn't justify spending that much for the desk protector. It took me long enough to save up for the desk! However, after about a month of use it was showing scuffs and signs of wear, despite the fact that I'm very gentle w/ it, always use coasters, etc. The fact is that it does scuff and show dirt very easily (I have the white one). I was about to go down to my local hardware store to get a piece of plexiglass cut, when I discovered the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. I have been using it for wall scuffs, etc. around my house forever and I don't know why I didn't think to use it on my desktop sooner, but since I've started cleaning my desk with it I've decided I don't need to get a desk protector. Save yourself $300+ and get a little reusable Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, this thing really is magic and my desk looks just a pristine as they day I bought it.

Smells Horrible

I bought the corner desk with 2 cabinets. It looks great but the smell is horrible. It has been 3 weeks, the smell is still pretty strong. I am not sure what to do with it. I am considering returning it.

I am a professional organizer, so when it came time to shop for my own home office I was very thorough. This modular system is definitely the style and durability I was looking for. It was pricey, but so far I think it is worth it. At first the file drawer on the three drawer cabinet was sticky, but having the weight of the files in it proved to ameliorate this problem considerably. I was considering purchasing an acrylic cover for the desktop, but will not be due to the poor reviews from other customers. I will also be getting a custom piece of glass made to protect my desktop instead.

This is the second time we have bought this home office collection. The first time, we lived in New Orleans and it did not survive 15 feet of water. You can mix and match, and add components when you want. We have gotten so many complements from guests - buy it you will not be disappointed!

Beautiful looking, file drawers not made well

I have the black desk set and it's gorgeous however the file drawers are not deep enough. Every time I open the drawers the tops of my file folders get ripped and shredded and now the insides of my drawers look terrible. Unfortunate since I spent so much money! Hard to believe the file cabinet wasn't tested prior to being sold to, um, hold files.

Pricey but nice

The desk is the only one I liked so I decided to spring for it. Delivered super-fast and in great shape. All of the drawers (the rectangular desk set with 3 and 2 drawer units) pull all the way out. Given that it's notbuilt out of hardwood, I'll have to see how long it lasts.

Acrylic Desk Protector is the WORST

This review is strictly about the acrylic desk protector. Be warned: It comes in packaging that is entirely glued to every inch of the acrylic -- front and back. The only analogy I can make is - you know when you have a price tag stuck on the glass/acrylic part of a picture frame that is so annoying to scrape off? Well, the acrylic desk protector is 100% covered in a glued sticker resembling brown packaging paper; front and back. I stopped scraping it off to write this review; I feel like I'm on candid camera. I am so angry that I even started this process. My husband is working on one side and I am working on another --- my hands are cramping; it's been over an hour and we are each only half way done scraping off the protective cover. Why couldn't they just wrap it in bubble wrap? This is honestly insane. (P.S. The actual desk itself is very well made; we are happy with the desk).

We bought the corner desk in white finish along with a file cabinet, cpu cabinet, small desk and extra drawers cabinet and it fit perfectly where I needed it to. Surely its not of the best quality for the price but it cleans fairly easy with a little soapy water and a sponge. I shopped around at various stores and online as well and this is what worked for our loft! The accessories are pricey too and I haven't purchased the corner hutch but I would like to, I just don't think its worth the price! I enjoy the organization a lot! The desk looks nice too!

Bedford desk bad drawers

I just want to warn people about the filing drawers in the bedford system. The filing drawers DON'T pull out beyond the lip of the desktop, meaning that you have to bend and cram your files and papers to get them in and out!! All my papers and manila folders have jagged tops and edges because they don't come out and go into the drawers smoothly. It is so frustrating every time (which is every day) I go into my files. I have had this desk system over 5 years, and two of the drawers have broken after simple wear and tear. I would not reccommend this system.

I've had this collection for just under two years now. I was initially thrilled with the way it looks and fits together. However, I was quickly disappointed because the drawers do not pull out fully so the space cannot be used efficiently. Would have been nice to know ahead of time.
The pieces are solidly built but the components seem to be inferior. The bearing strip on one of the lateral file drawer glides came completely out after several months of use.
My biggest complaint with this set is that the drawers in the side units do not seem to be removable. Papers have fallen behind the smaller drawers and there is NO WAY to get them out!
This set looks nice but is impractical for even 'light-duty' home use.

It's the best thing I could find

I have the corner desk and hutch, the rectanglar desk, the acryllic desk protectors and a book shelf. I do really love the versatility of it, I recently moved it into a different room and was easily able to reconfigure it to fit. However, for the price I paid I expected much more for the quality. I have the white color and you barely have to touch it to leave a mark on the paint. It would probably be ok in the darker color. Also, it's not made of real wood and the finish dents easily. Over time I have learned to live with the marks and kind of view it as part of the vintage charm. I bought the desk protector in attempt to prevent some damage but it's VERY expensive and hard to get it to stay in place. Also it's sharp on the edge and will hurt your arms if they rest on it. Overall the desk is nice looking and if you are looking for something that can be reconfigured it's hard to beat. I do wish the price was in line with the quality.

Not what I expected

I love Pottery Barn, which is why I'm so bummed about this desk. I purchased this desk for my home office. I love the look of it, however; it feels like it's made from MDF, for the price you'd think they'd throw in some legs (just in case you don't have the $$ to purchase the shelves). I think I could have saved a couple hundred by purchasing the desk from IKEA.

A good product. Overpriced for what you get, however. Also, the desk ends up being way to high. You will cause your body harm by using it, because it is not ergonomically thought out at all. If you buy this desk, get ready to buy a keyboard tray.
I own two. They look great and my wife and I love them. But you have to think it out before you buy them (what do you want to use them for..., and how tall are you?)

Perfect for my home office

I bought the corner desk, long desk, computer hutch, large charging station, project table and studio shelf (all in antique white). I'm a wedding photographer and needed a great office to impress clients - it is WORKING! I love this room. My only beef is that you have to be very careful with the paint (get the touch up pen!) and the acrylic covers are so dang pricey. I ordered glass ones cut for much less and they look great.

I purchased 4 of the Bedford File Cabinets (2 & 3 Drawer) in Antique White and just purchased 2 more! Because the Bedford Desk Tops were not deep enough to my needs..I purchased a laminated counter top from the local hardware store...which allowed me to pick a color countertop. It looks BEAUTIFUL on top of my file cabinets! The cabinets are well made and very functional. They were well packaged so there was no damage in shipping!
