Buchanan - wait awhile on this one

After excellent experience with a Buchanan, currently 5 years old and still in use, I had no hesitation about ordering my new Buchanan sectional in July 2012. I was dismayed that in 2 weeks, it looked as though it had spent years in a frat house! I made a call to the 800 number and provided pictures and PB sent all new replacement cushions. Within days I could tell I was having the same problem! I spoke with Manager at PB store where I purchased the sofa. PB quickly sent merchandise credit for the full price of the sectional. Not wanting to repeat my experience, I have ordered a Pearce sofa and PB is working with me on pick up of the old sectional so we have something to sit on during the holidays. I am giving the lowest review possible on the Buchanan sectional but would give 5 stars for the customer service.
My guess: PB changed manufacturers for their Buchanan line recently. I'd steer clear of Buchanan until this issue is resolved.

I received my couch May 26 and I'm in love with it! I looked for the perfect couch for 6 months and hired 3 decorators to see what would fit in my townhouse. I wish there had been one on display in store but none were. I had great service and the couch came earlier than predicted. Thank you Pottery Barn!

We bought two Buchanan Sofas in everydaysuede for our family room. In the first two weeks we found them more firm than we expected, but now they are awesome!!! They are beautiful, comfortable and the size is just perfect!

Great sofa at a reasonable price. Cushions are well made and firm which I was looking for after getting rid of our saggy sofa! Great buying experience. The couch arrived within the estimated 6 week time frame. It was protected & wrapped well for delivery. Delivery was at the beginning of the window (when does that happen?)! :)

We have had the Buchanan Sofa in Light Wheat everyday suede for almost a year now and couldn't be happier. We have three small children and have had multiple things spilled on the sofa - pen, marker, baby spit up, juice, chocolate, you name it. EVERYTHING has come out easily. I can usually just wipe things up with a baby wipe or wet cloth and it looks like nothing was spilled. I only had to use a carpet stain remover product once. I highly recommend the everyday suede fabric for families with small children! It truly cleans like a dream. We also love the sofa for the comfort. The cushions are an ideal level of firmness for us. We use the sofa heavily and we don't find it to look worn yet at all. My kids jump all over it and the cushions fluff right back up like new. We look forward to many more years of enjoyment!

It's a nice sofa. The seat cushions are nice and firm, but the back cushions are very soft which I don't find comfortable for sitting for long periods.

Buchanan is a beautiful sofa! We were so happy when we brought it home.
However, after a few months the cushions both seat and back look worn and rumpled. We have not had this problem with any other couches and therefore I am convinced it is BAD QUALITY...
I am very dissappointed! We will likely have to invest in another couch soon enough despite how much we spent on this couch.
I would NOT advise others to purchase this couch unless it is soley for looks and not use.

This was my first Pottery Barn furniture purchase. At first i was in love with this sofa but after only 3 months the cushions are showing wear. it looks like people have been sitting on them for years. I even rotate the cushions every couple weeks so one doesn't wear more than another. I am really disappointed and fear I'll have to purchase a new sofa sooner rather then later.

Long wait & damaged

My wife and I have admired PB furniture for a long time and are finally in a position to afford it. We were surprised by the length of time it took to receive the couch and ultimately disappointed by the condition in which it arrived. Our couch took 6 weeks and it arrived damaged. Based on the way the couch was protected with cardboard and plastic wrap it appears as though the damage was done before it was packaged for delivery --- if this is the case PB (or their supplier) does a poor job of inspecting their furniture for quality. I noticed a tear on the back support and a broken seam on the arm rest within the first minute of looking at the couch. We were planning to buy more furniture from PB but now we're apprehensive. I still recommend to a friend because it is a beautiful couch and I'm assuming/hoping this is an isolated incident.

We purchased the sofa upholstered in natural brushed canvas almost two years ago. It has resisted stains, the cushions have held up to daily use (they spent an afternoon in the sun this past summer in order to revive their fullness), and even despite the light color and our black lab, it continues to look great! It is just perfect!

Love the sofa, so soft and comfortable. I hate that it takes so long to get it but well worth it. Delivery service from PB is always excellent, high quality. I just wish everyone did as good a job.

I love the look of this sofa, and it is extremely comfortable. I agree with the other reviewer who mentioned the cushions not holding up very well. The sofa shows wrinkles and the back cushions mush in a certain way so that you can tell which side was being leaned against. However, I vacuum my sofa cushions every week (my dog finds the sofa very comfortable, too) and I flip and rotate them at the same time. This is really helping to promote even wear and keeps it looking like the day I brought it home.

I purchased this couch a few weeks ago when I moved into my new apartment and I couldn't be happier with it. The couch is a great size and incredibly comfortable! It looks very polished but feels amazing - you sink right into the seats. Very comfortable and looks great in the space. I'm very happy I made this buy!

We have had this sofa for a couple of months and love it. The sofa is holding up really well. It is in a living room where it gets a lot of use. I upgraded to the B fabric with brushed canvas in Pewter. The color is more green than grey, but is neutral. The side arms of the sofa have a good amount of cushion so you don't feel the wood frame when you rest your head on it.

We purchased this sofa after our basement flooded and we chose Pottery Barn to replace our very inexpensive furniture that was ruined. We chose this sofa primarily because oif the price point, but also because it had no skirt that could absorb water in case we flood another few inches of water again. It is much better quality than we had before and the shape has kept up better than we hoped- the cushions do not sag and the fabric withstood our renovation of the basement beautifully. We are very happy with it.
