Nice desk accessory

This piece is beautiful. The center pull out drawer is difficult at times sliding in and out. I believe it's because there are no guides and it simply just fits into the drawer cavity. It tends to want to slide in at varios angles making the movement not very smooth and a bit choppy. Really can't close it with one hand successfully as both are needed to keep it straight. Love it though!

I ordered two of the hutches and stacked them one on top of the other. For my business that has a few forms and CD's and DVD's this has proven to be very beneficial for me.

nice but too big

this hutch is great and very well made but the desk is pretty narrow, so the hutch eats up much of the desk. we tried to wall mount it but that didn't work. we returned it.

The bedford hutch adds some much needed organization space to my desk.
I only have 2 complaints:
I only have 2 complaints:
(1)- despite PB's excellent packing, a few of the wood slot pieces for the hutch arrived with hairline cracks. This is really not noticeable unless I am looking for it- I also ordered the hutch in white and think that the cracks would be nearly invisible on the black or brown. I'm sure if it had really bothered me, I could have contacted customer service and they would have taken care of it.
(2)- the drawer is not ball bearing- it really is just a wood drawer that fits into an empty space and requires some jiggling to get in and out at times.
Overall, I'm really happy I ordered this piece. The plug-in is a nice bonus.

Good for charging, not for papers

This is a great concept, especially for small spaces. The ability to hide cords is fabulous. I like the set up of drawer on top (where i store extra cords, USB cables, mouse, remotes, etc...) and the outlet under it with a cut out for extension cords is great. However, the size of the dividers on the hutch are not good. They are too short for a sheet of paper or magazine to fit standing up. The desk just always looks messy with papers everywhere. I was hoping that this hutch would help keep the desk looking organized.

Looks Great, but delicate finish

We purchased the corner desk, small desk, file cabinets and smart technology hutch. They all look great and are very well made structurally so worth the money. The white finish is not very durable however and really does chip and stain easily. I took another posters advice and purchased a spray polyurethane for the desk top which was really easy to apply and works great! Scuffs and smudges now wipe off easily. I did have some damage to the smart hutch and desk top during shipping, and pottery barn customer service was amazing and immediately shipped me a new one with no hassle. We don't have much use for the Ethernet ports as we are wireless, but having the plugs in the hutch is really convenient. Overall, great item.

I bought the entire desk and hutch. They look beautiful and are very funtional. There are only 2 reasons this does not get 5 stars from me. The drawer in the center is not on a track so it is difficult to open and close because it "flops around". The electrical outlets are too close together making impossible to plug in 2 devices..I found this very frustrating.

quality piece

good looking piece of functional furniture. after all it's a desk. used the create your own desk tool and so i'm pleased with the result. wish the finish didn't scratch so easily. spent more than i wanted to on the acrylic topper - hope it prevents enough wear and tear to pay for itself over time. our house is 75% furnished with pb items so i knew what i was getting into. even after 10 years the old pieces still work as well as they did when new, although scratched. can't say their necessarily heirloom quality, but if they hold up for a solid generation then i'm still ahead considering the price which i think is fairly moderate.

this hutch looks very nice and is functional for organizing everything. I only gave it a 3 out of 5 because one of the shelfs was broken when we received it, not made as well as I was hoping for.

Almost perfect

I got the corner desk but chose to get the straight hutch instead of the corner hutch as it seemed to have better storage that would meet my needs.
The first hutch I received was damaged (not from shipping) so was sent back. The replacement was in good condition, and it is a very beautiful piece. Overall, I am very happy with my desk. I do, however, have two complaints with the hutch:
1) the five vertical compartments on the left side are NOT letter size. I guess I didn't read the description carefully enough and just assumed they would fit letter size paper horizontally.
2) the small handle to open the drawer is hard on your fingers. It is so small you cannot get a finger in behind it, so you kind of have to pinch the sides which are rough. I'm considering finding some type of ring to hang here that I can pull instead.
Even though it isn't perfect, I would still recommend it as it is a great addition to your Bedford desk with decent extra storage.

Best desk ever

I purchased this desk as a gift for my daughter. We were impressed with the appearance in the Pottery Barn catalog, but were really blown away by the quality and appearance once delivered. We both loved that it is a component piece. It made is so much easier to move than a 1 piece desk of the same size. I like it so much that I am purchasing one for my own home office.
