Well built and very solid piece of furniture. Hard to believe it was mail order. Fits the space beautifully. Just be aware that Pottery Barn white is not a pure white, but an ivory.

Bedford Lateral File Cabinet is nice looking but..

Files face side to side instead of front to back which makes access and viewing difficult. Also the drawers are a little shakey when full.

Great Filing Cabinet

I purchased this for additional counter space as well as storage. It's well constructed and in-home delivery meant no assembly. It holds a surprising amount of files, both letter and legal sized.
Overall I really like this office furniture and have purchased several pieces of the set.

I have searched hard for nice looking file cabinets and the prices are exhorbitant for all but the pasteboard type. These file cabinets look great and are sturdy. I'm very pleased! I didn't give it 5 stars only because I hadn't expected to have to bolt them to the wall... when you open a drawer with files in it the weight will cause them to tip. They come with the all the necessary hardward though so "nuff said." these are great for the price!

Perfect for multiple filling needs. Every item is accessable and organized. Monthly billings, annual contracts, medical files and taxes are neatly filed and can be found at a glance. Also great for special projects and "open" items.

Bedford white lateral file cabinet

I love this file! It looks excellent, very nice finish, it is well made with solid pieces of wood and no chemical smell at all ( unlike another company's product I bought also). It has a slim profile so it can even fit well into a bedroom, yet it has lots of filing space--- you can fit 4 "bankers boxes" of files in it. I would have given it 5 stars if the gliders were a bit smoother on the drawers but I really have no trouble with it and am estatic to finally have piles of paper put away. I intend to buy more pieces.

This is unfortunately 3/4 of an inch taller than the older bedford file cabinets that I have. Makes it kind of difficult to fit it under the same top as the others..... It would have been nice to know in advance before ordering.....

Like other reviewers, our top drawer fell out of the cabinet due to the screws stripping out of the wood after two years. PB considers this normal wear & tear and maybe they're right. We just expected a longer life for this price & PB's reputation.

Screws holding runners to cabinet and drawer gave out after two years. Expected more from $500 file cabinet.

Bottom drawer broke after 4 months. Just paid to have local furniture repair company fix it. The screws holding the tracks are so small I am just waiting for the top drawer to break. The drawers are plenty long enough to hold many files, but can't really hold the weight of too many files.

Top Drawer Broke After One Year

We purchased this item 14 months ago. After 7 months the top drawer would not open smoothly, but we ignored it. When I pulled out the drawer today, the drawer came out completely and fell on the floor. I called to inquire about Pottery Barn's warranty, and they told me it has a 30 day guarantee. Then, for the next 11 months, they take concerns on a case by case basis. After that, "the customer is on their own." I LOVE Pottery Barn furniture and have had success with other items. However, I cannot see spending this much for a Lateral File Cabinet that will break after one year. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS ITEM!!

I really like this file cabinet. My only complaint is if you put too much weight inside the top drawer, it is very difficult to open the bottom drawer.
